Acid attack on couple in Medawachchiya

A couple who were attacked with acid in the Unagaswewa area in Medawachchiya were admitted to the Medawachchiya with critical burn injuries and later transferred to the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital for further treatment.
Police said the attack took place at around 9.00pm last night and that the attacker, who threw acid on the victims over a personal dispute, has been arrested.
The suspect, a resident of Unagaswewa, will be produced at the Anuradhapura Magistrate’s Court today while Medawachchiya Police is conducting further investigations.
