Australia-bound illegal migrants arrested by CID

A Sri Lankan asylum seeker boat, which was intercepted by the Australian coast guard in waters off Indonesia, has been handed over to the Sri Lankan Navy.

Police said the 37 passengers of the boat, including six children, have been taken into custody by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

The CID has commenced investigations into the suspects, who are residents of Marawila, Chilaw and Colombo.
