Heavy showers today - Met Dept

The Meteorological Department forecasts that showers or thundershowers will occur at most parts of the island during the afternoon and night today. Heavy rain falls (about 100 mm) are also expected at some places.

Showers will occur in the coastal area extending from Mannar to Matara via Colombo and Galle during the morning too.

There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers. General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
