Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi today congratulated Ranil Wickremesinghe on being sworn-in as Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister.

“Congratulations & best wishes to Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe on being sworn-in as Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister,” he tweeted.

After Mr Wickremesinghe’s United National Party won the Sri Lankan Parliamentary polls, the Indian Prime Minister had called him up on August 18 to congratulate him and expressed confidence that the relations between the two countries will get better under his leadership, PTI reported.

Mr Wickremesinghe was today sworn in as Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister for the fourth time following his party’s victory in the parliamentary polls.
