Ex-Minister Abdul Carder passes away

Former Minister A.R.M. Abdul Carder has passed away at a private hospital in Kandy at the age of 79.

The funeral is expected to take place in Gampola. 

A former Kandy District MP, Mr Cader entered Parliament from the United National Party (UNP) and served as the Minister of Cooperatives in the UNP government formed in 2001.

He later crossed over to the then ruling UPFA led by Mahinda Rajapaksa in 2012. he served as Deputy Minister of Environment in that government. 

A businessman and politicians, he had been is active politics from 1958.
