Man arrested after paying court fine with fake note

A person has been arrested at the Embilipitiya Magistrate’s Court premises after he attempted to pay a fine using a counterfeit currency note.

Police said that the 45-year-old, a resident of Embilipitya, was arrested when he attempted to pay the fine with a fake note of Rs 1,000 denomination at the court. 

He is to be produced before the Embilipitiya Magistrate’s Court today while police are conducting further investigations.
