A total of 21,381 dengue cases had been reported from all parts of the country up to this month with over 50 dengue deaths, the Health Ministry says.

The Ministry says that approximately 50.26% of dengue cases were reported from the Western province.

Some 6,848 of dengue patients were reported from the Colombo district, while over 2,973 cases were reported from the Gampaha district, it was reported.

The Ministry stresses that this situation warrants regular removal of possible mosquito breeding sites from the environment. It  also  emphasises that it is important to seek medical attention in the event of fever by day three of the illness.
