The Chairman was granted bail when he was produced before the Colombo Additional Magistrate, Ada Derana reporter said.

The police had also launched an investigation to identify the group of people who had allegedly attacked residents of Meethotamulla while they were protesting against the garbage dump on December 27.

Several people, who sustained injuries following the attack, were also admitted to the Colombo National hospital.
