Youth arrested over assault and lottery ticket robbery

A youth from Anuradhapura has been arrested in connection with the assault of an individual and robbing cash and a winning lottery ticket in the latter’s possession. 

The suspect in question had assaulted the victim in the Anuradhapura market area and had stolen Rs 350 in cash and a winning lottery ticket worth Rs 500,000 on Sunday (3).

He was arrested by Anuradhapura Police following investigations carried out based on information received. 

The stolen money and lottery ticket were found in the possession of the arrested suspect, a resident of Jayanthi Mawatha in Anuradhapura. 

He is to be produced before the Anuradhapura Magistrate’s Court today.
