Appoint the new AG soon, Gammanpila urges

Pivithuru Hela Urumaya General Secretary and Parliamentarian Udaya Gammanpila today urged the Government to nominate a new Attorney General to fill the post left vacant by the retirement of Palitha Fernando.

The observation was made at a press conference held in Colombo this afternoon (08).

“Reason unknown as to why the Government has failed to appoint the new AG,” he added.

Gammanpila also went on to say that Solicitor General Suhada Gamlath is the most senior official at the Attorney General’s Department. “He is independent and won’t kneel before politicians. May be that is the reason why the Government thinks twice before appointing the new AG,” he charged.
