The area residents of Ferguson road in Thotalanga have already been provided with houses through a new construction project, Minister Patali Ranwaka says.

The observation was made at a press conference held in Colombo this afternoon (17).

The Minister pointed out that the ownership of the new houses were granted to the householders of the said area during a function held with the participation of he and the Finance Minister on January 12.

“More people were trying to build unauthorised houses there. The householders had been ordered to evacuate their houses by December 2015,” said Ranawaka.

Heavy traffic reported from Nawaloka Roundabout in Peliyagoda due to a protest staged in Thotalanga yesterday. The demonstration was staged in protest over the decision to remove the illegal construction site.
