Jayasuriya to return as chairman of selectors

Former Sri Lankan batsman Sanath Jayasuriya will be appointed as the country’s chief selector once again, a year after he stepped down from the job, the SLC President said.

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) president Thilanga Sumathipala virtually confirmed the news, saying that they were planning to appoint Jayasuriya as the new chairman of selectors in a bid to take the nation’s cricket to a new path.

According to SLC vice president Mohan de Silva, former wicketkeeper-batsman Romesh Kaluwitharana and former off spinner Ranjith Madurasingha will also be a part of the committee.

Jayasuriya, who held the post from January 2013 to March 2015, will replace Aravinda de Silva and is likely to remain in the post up to the 2019 World Cup.
