Primary classes reopened…

The student turnout has dropped considerably despite reopening primary classes at government schools today (13), the Ministry of Education has stated.

Additional Secretary of the ministry Hemantha Premathilaka said, however, the teachers’ turnout had shown normalcy.

According to principals of schools in the Central Province, the student turnout had been extremely low, said Ada Derana correspondent.

Ada Derana reporter in Ambalangoda area said low attendance of students was observed from primary classes and secondary classes as well.

Meanwhile, in Vavuniya District, the student turnout had not accumulated to 10 percent although security personnel was deployed to ensure security.
