Search operation launched for students missing near Saptha Kanya

The police and army have commenced a joint operation in search of three students of the Kelaniya University and a student of the Kotelawala Defence University who were exploring the Saptha Kanya (Seven Virgins) mountain range.

The operation was launched based on information received that the students are stranded in the forest after losing their way, police said.

Meanwhile s spokesman for the Hatton Police told Ada Derana that information has also been received regarding two French nationals who are also reportedly stranded in the mountain range.

However, a search operation has not been launched to find them as of yet, he said
