Jaffna prison inmates stage hunger strike

A protest fast has been launched by several inmates of the Jaffna Prison today (19).

This fast has been started by suspects arrested on drug trafficking charges who are demanding their release on bail, said Prison spokesperson Thushara Upuldeniya.

Thirty-six inmates had commenced the protest fast, however 18 of them have already left the stir, according to the prison spokesmen.
