Heartbreaking to see Muttiah’s change - Thilanga

It is heartbreaking to see that legendary cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan is coaching the Australian team against his country at his hometown in Kandy, Sri Lanka Cricket President Thilanga Sumathipala says.

The observation was made while speaking to reporters in Colombo.

“He is more than qualified for the job, but there is an ethical matter behind his decision,” Sumathipala told reporters.

He also went on to say that a complaint has been lodged with the SLC against Muralitharan for allegedly scolding team manager Charith Senanayake. “The SLC has also informed the Australian Cricket Board of Muralitharan participating a training session at the Pallekele ground without permission,” he added.

Australia will be looking to local legend and one-time bogeyman Muttiah Muralitharan to inspire them to success on his home patch as the world’s number one Test team begins a three-match series in Sri Lanka later this week.
