Basil Rajapaksa further remanded

Former Minister Basil Rajapaksa, who was arrested and remanded on charges of misappropriation of state funds, has been further remanded till August 8 by the Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court. 

He was arrested by the Financial Crimes Investigations Division (FCID) on July 18 regarding the supply of building materials to district councils when he was a minister of Economic Development and remanded till August 01.

Rajapaksa was admitted to the Merchants Ward of the National Hospital in Colombo with the permission of the prison doctor on July 19.
