Committee report finds coal deal was profitable for CEB

Minister of Power and Renewable Energy Ranjith Siyambalapitiya informed Parliament today that the committee appointed to investigate the controversial coal purchase has found that the deal was profitable for the CEB. 

The report of the three-member committee appointed to look into tender procedure for the purchase of coal for the Lakvijaya Coal Power Plant in Norochcholai, which is owned by the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), was handed over to the Minister on August 01. 

The committee comprising Prof. K.K.Y.W. Perera, Prof. Lakshman R. Watawala and Prof. Janaka B. Ekanayake was appointed by the minister on July 13.
