Russian man drown in sea off Koggala

A 61-year-old Russian national has drowned while bathing in the sea off Koggala in Habaraduwa, police said today.

He was bathing close to the shore, however was swept away by currents and was drowning when lifeguards spotted and rescued him.

However, the Russian tourist had passed away after being admitted to the Karapitiya Hospital.

A postmortem examination is to be carried out today while Habaraduwa Police is conducting an investigation.
