Women arrested after FB video shows her assaulting daughter

A woman who was arrested in Nirweli for inhumanly assaulting her nine-year-old daughter, after a video of the incident went viral on social media, has been remanded till October 07 by the Jaffna Magistrate’s Court. 

She was taken into custody by Kopai Police following a complaint lodged with regard to the mobile phone footage which had been uploaded on Facebook. 

The arrested mother of three was ordered remanded while the daughter, who was also produced before the magistrate, was handed over to probation officials. 

The court also instructed the police to submit a medical report on the child.
