Court of Appeal issues notices on Finance Minister

The Court of Appeal has issued notices on Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake and three others, Ada Derana reporter said.


The Finance Minister has been ordered appear before the Court on 12 October following a petition filed against him by several monks.


The petition has challenged a decision of the Finance Minister to exempt customs import duty amounting to Rs.6 billion on alcoholic products imported by a beer brewery, Ada Derana reporter added.


The petition will be taken up for hearing again on 12 October.
