Court orders auctioning of Malwana land after Basil denies ownership

October 14, 2016   10:48 am

The Pugoda Magistrate’s Court today ordered the disputed 16 acre land and house in Malwana to be auctioned after former minister Basil Rajapaksa and its registered owner had denied ownership of the property.

When the case was taken up for hearing, Magistrate D.A. Ruwanpathirana ordered that the money from the auctioning be handed over to the Pugoda Magistrate’s Court.

Last Friday (7), the former Minister of Economic Development, through his attorney, informed the court that he has no connection to the property located on Gangabada Road in Malwana, Pugoda.

The person under whose name the property has been registered had also denied ownership of the house and land.

Pugoda Magistrate postponed the case till January 10, 2017.
