Although former Sri Lanka cricket captain Sanath Jayasuriya had decided to resign from his current position as the Chairman of the SLC selection committee due to several unresolved issues and undue pressure, sources say that he opted to change his decision after talks with Sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara.

The legendary batsman had reportedly informed the minister that he would have no option but to resign as he will be unable to properly carry out his duties if the problematic situation continues to persist.

However, the Minister had assured Jayasuriya that he would take necessary steps to resolve said issues without delay, the source told Ada Derana.
