TN fishermen seek release of fellow fishermen

A fishermen association in Tamil Nadu has sought the release of fishermen, who were detained by the Sri Lankan Navy earlier this month.

Ten Indian fishermen from the province were detained by the Lankan Navy on February 06 for illegally fishing in its territorial waters near the Katchatheevu Island.

India shares an expansive oceanic border with Sri Lanka without any perceptible demarcation and fishermen on both sides ignore rules while netting their catch.
