Five arrested over abduction in Kelaniya

Five suspects including two women have been arrested in connection with the abduction of an individual in Kelaniya.

Police said that the arrests were made following search carried out based on information received regarding the abduction, which was carried out by several individuals who came in a three-wheeler.

The three-wheeler used in the abduction as well as the victim has been recovered, police said.

Preliminary inquiries have revealed that the abduction was the result of a dispute over a romantic relationship.

The arrested suspects, who are residents of Pethiyagoda, are to be produced at the Mahara Magistrate’s Court.
