UNP’s Katana Organiser Rose Fernando resigns

The United National Party’s Chief Organiser for the Katana Electorate, Rose Fernando, has decided to resign from all positions held by her in the party.

Speaking at a media briefing at the UNP Katana office today (19), she said that she has written to party leader PM Ranil Wickremesinghe and the UNP headquarters regarding her decision.

Fernando says that she decided to resign due to Minister John Amaratunga’s certain actions which go against good governance.

She says that a situation has risen where the supporters of the Minister of Tourism Development and Christian Religious Affairs have also been given permits to provide vehicle rental services to tourists at the airport in Katunayake, despite a court order directing that a tender be awarded legally.

The UNP Katana Organiser said that the President and Prime Minister should intervene immediately to put a stop to such anti-good governance activities.
