Avurudu raids send 850 stores to court

The raids carried out during the festive season, has resulted in 850 retail stores being brought to court over the violation of consumer affairs. 

The raids were carried out since the 1 of April, where 1130 stores were searched thoroughly. 

A few examples of the  perpetration included the selling of expired goods, selling goods above the maximum retail price and the sale of electrical equipment without a warranty.

The Consumer Affairs Authority added that  further raids will be carried out in the future as well.
