Eight remanded after student protest

Eight individuals who had been acting unlawfully during the Inter University Students Federation protests, held yesterday (17), have been arrested. 

Police reveal that the students have been remanded till Friday (19). 

The arrested include seven university students and one Buddhist monk, studying at the university. 

The group who had protested despite the court order against the action, had tried to cause a states of public distress by attempting to attack the police officers on duty at the time.
