NBRO issues landslides alert for several districts

The National Building Research Organization (NBRO) has issued an alert on possibility of landslides in the following districts:

Kegalle District
Bulathkohupitiya , Dehiowita ,Deraniyagala, Yatiyanthota Divisional Secretariats 

Galle District
Baddegama, Yakkalamulla , Neluwa, Thawalama, Niyagama,, Nagoda Divisional Secretariats 

Ratapura District
Elapatha, Pelmadulla, Kuruwita, Ehaliyagoda, Kiriella ,Imbulpe, Ayagama Kahawatta and Kalawana Divisional Secretariats 

Kalutara District
Bulathsinhala, Agalawatta, Wallawita and Buduraliya Divisional Secretariats 

Matara District
Kotapola, Pasgoda, Pitabeddara and Mulatiyana Divisional Secretariats 

Hambanthota District
Walasmulla and Katuwana Divisional Secretariats 

Nuwara Eliya District
Ambagamuwa Korale Divisional Secretariats 

The DMC says that the slopes in above areas are still in wet condition and that there is a possibility of landslide and cut slope failures if rainfall is received.

The NBRO warning stated that if the rain continues within the next 24 hours, people have to be evacuated from unstable slopes to minimize disasters due to landslides and cut slope failures.
