CSN’s writ petition to be reconsidered in August

The Court of Appeal has made the decision to consider the writ petition submitted by the CSN television channel on August 03 again.
The writ petition was filed opposing the decision taken by the Ministry of Mass Media to cancel the channel’s broadcast license.
When the writ petition was taken up for consideration before the Court of Appeal today (29), the Court gave permission to name Minister Mangala Samaraweera as a respondent, Ada Derana reporters said.
The Court also informed the Counsels representing both parties to attempt to settle the case without a trial, and if so, inform the Court on August 03.
The petitioner of the case, the CSN television channel, stated that the decision taken by the Secretary to the Ministry of Mass Media was against the law, as the license was revoked with no investigation whatsoever.
The petitioner therefore requested the Court of Appeal to suspend the decision made by the Ministry.
