Public caught littering at railway stations to be fined - Siripala

Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Nimal Siripala stated that a practice will be put in place to fine any individual travelling caught littering on railway platforms and tracks.  

The sentiments were brought out at the opening ceremony of the ‘Dengue Wanasamu, Ratama Sanasemu’ initiative organized by the National Dengue Eradication program and the Department of Railways, at the Dematagoda railway station today (16). 

The program will be implemented in 351 stations and sub stations around the country, starting today. 

Siripala added that the eradication program will not be limited to the platform and tracks, but will be implemented at rail yards and rain compartments as well.
