Police shoot dead thief attempting to steal from Temple

An individual who had attempted to steal from a temple in Lassanagama, Migalawa was shot dead by police, yesterday (24).  

Police reported that when officers had approached the bike the two individuals who had stolen stuff were riding, one out of the two had opened fire at the police officer, after which he had fired another in retaliation. 

Both perpetrators had received injuries from the shooting, and hence were admitted to the Migalawa where one later passed away. 

The surviving perpetrator was admitted to the Anuradhapura Hospital to receive further treatment. 

Police have seized a T-56 firearm, a hand grenade and a pistol, while the Migalawa Police have begun further investigations on the matter.
