FCID concludes investigations into 89 complaints; 131 more amidst process

Police Media Spokesperson, Superintendent of Police (SP) Ruwan Gunasekara stated that the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) had received 335 complaints in total up-to-date, out of which, investigations into 89 complaints had already been completed.

 

He also reported that cases had been filed with the High Court in connection with 12 of the complaints, following consultation of legal advice.

A further 115 complaints have either been declared closed following investigations, or redirected to other authorities.

 

Investigations are currently being conducted in connection with 131 complaints, the Police Media Spokesperson added.

 

He reported as such upon attending a television discussion at the Government Information Department today (27).

 

SP Ruwan Gunasekara also stated that 56 suspects have been arrested in total, whereas another 10 have surrendered to the courts.
