Government to renovate Golden Roof of Temple of the Tooth

Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe along with several other UNP parliamentarians visited the Temple of the Tooth relic in Kandy today to conduct an alms giving commemorating the Prime Minister’s 40 year political career. (13).
 
The alms giving was conducted for 40 persists along with prelates from the Asgiriya and Malwatte temples. 

Several UNP parliamentarians including former Foreign Minister Ravi Karunanayake, Minister of High-ways and Higher education Lakshman Kiriella and Minister of Lands and Parliament affairs Gayantha Karunathilaka were in attendance at the ceremony. 

Speaking to the media following the event the Prime Minister stated that the Golden Roof of the Dalada Maligawa constructed by President Premadasa was unfortunately in a pitiable state. 

He stated that to beautify the world heritage site that is the temple of the tooth, which thousands of devotees from across the globe come to venerate, the government will fully restore the Golden fence to ensure the stateliness of the temple of the tooth.
