A group of Indian officials nominated by the Tamil Nadu region will arrive in Sri Lanka today (17) to inspect the condition of Indian fishing vessels released from custody of the Sri Lankan government.

A party of seven, headed by the Deputy Director of the Indian fisheries Department will arrive later on today.

The Sri Lankan government decided to release 42 Indian fishing vessels from custody upon a request made by the Indian government.

Accordingly Indian officials made arrangements to send a team of experts to examine the condition the vessels are in prior to their release. The Indian contingent will decide on the transport of the vessels after a thorough inspection is complete.
