Minister of Higher Education and Highways Lakshman Kiriella says that the United National Party (UNP) is predicted to gain 55 percent of the votes in the upcoming Local Government (LG) polls.

He stated that the UNP had no reason to support the postponement of the LG polls, and added that it was another group that wanted to postpone the polls.

He expressed these sentiments upon addressing the media’s questions after a ceremony in Anuradhapura.
