Colombo HC issues life sentence to man over possession of heroin

The Colombo High Court today (13) sentenced an individual to life imprisonment over the possession of heroin.

According to the Ada Derana court correspondent, the ruling had been made by Colombo High Court Judge Wikum Kaluarachchi when the relevant case was taken up by the Court today (13).

The recipient of the sentence was arrested at Cinnamon Gardens back in 2013 for the possession of 3 g and 33 mg of heroin. The arrest was made by the Police narcotics division.

The Attorney-General’s Department filed the case against the suspect on charges of possession and distribution of heroin.

The suspect was cleared of the charge on distribution and imprisoned on the charge of possession.
