The Attorney General has informed the Supreme Court of the possibility of a settlement with the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC).

The SLMC filed an appeal to withdraw the Supreme Court order to register those with degrees from SAITM.

The Ada Derana court correspondent stated that the relevant case had been taken up today (14) by the three-person bench consisting of Justices Buwaneka Aluvihare, Sisira de Abrew and Anil Gunaratne.

Additional Solicitor General appearing on behalf of the Attorney General accordingly requested that the Court postpone the petition hearing, as a settlement was in the realm of possibility.

However, the counsel appearing on behalf of the SLMC responded by saying that he had not been informed of such a settlement.

The Supreme Court judges then stated that the trial would continue, and instructed the parties to inform them if a settlement could be arrived at in future.
