Railway strike called off

The railway strike which was scheduled to be launched from midnight today (20) has been called off by the trade unions after the discussions held with the Prime Minister’s secretary.

Railway Employees attached to 11 grades including railway drivers, station masters, and guards decided to engage in a strike action with effect from midnight today (20).

Railway Drivers Union Secretary Indika Dodangoda said that the strike was due to be launched based on a number of demands including salary increments.
