September 22, 2017   08:48 am

MP Nimal Siripala de Silva stated that the SLFP will not allow the present government to abolish the Executive Presidency.

He further stated that the SLFP is of the view that certain powers of the Executive Presidency need only be curtailed and that it should be continued as it is, without a complete overhaul of the Presidential system.

The Deputy Head of the SLFP expressed these sentiments while speaking on the proposed amendments to the constitution that are being discussed in parliament.
