Sleep deprived driver collides with tollbooth on Southern expressway

Officials from the Matara Police reported that a truck travelling to Hakmana collided with the Godagama exit gateway of the Southern expressway, causing severe damages to one of the toll collection booths.

Accordingly, tollbooth number 1 at the Godagama exit is currently not operational. 

Reports confirm that the accident occurred at 11.25pm last night (25). The Police further stated that the passenger of the truck sustained heavy injuries and is currently receiving treatment at the Matara General Hospital.
 
The Police suspect that the accident occurred as the driver of the vehicle fell asleep while driving.
