PC elections will be held in January – Chandima Weerakkody

Minister of Skills Development and Vocational Training Chandima Weerakkody stated that Provincial Council Elections will definitely be held in January 2018.

Speaking to the media at a gathering in Galle, Chandima Weerakkody stated that he too desires to aid efforts to conduct transparent, speedy elections according to the electoral and mixed systems. 

He further stated that according to the new LG elections Act, the elections must be conducted within the course of 4 months and that steps may be taken to conduct a General Election thereafter.
