Ranga Kalansooriya resigns as DG of Govt Information

The Director General of the Government Information Department, Dr Ranga Kalansooriya, has tendered his resignation.

The senior journalist and founding Director-General of the Sri Lanka Press Institute was appointed to the position on June 06, 2016. 

He was serving as Adviser - Asia Pacific Affairs, at International Media Support at the time of his appointment. 

Prior to that he had served as a journalist for the Dinamina as well as the Daily News, where he became the Deputy News Editor in the late 1990s.
 
He is the son of veteran author Somadevi Paranayapa.
