13 in hospital after tear gas attack on anti-SAITM protesters

At least thirteen persons have reportedly been hospitalised after police used tear gas and water cannons to disperse university students protesting against SAITM at the Kollupitiya Junction today. 

Colombo National Hospital Director Dr. Anil Jasinghe stated that 13 individuals including a Buddhist monk and university students have been admitted to the accident ward of the hospital. 

Politburo Member of Frontline Socialist Party, Duminda Nagamuwa, and pedestrians who were in the area at the time of the incident have also reportedly been hospitalised.
