Leave of all SLTB employees cancelled

October 12, 2017   12:55 pm

Leave of all SLTB staff including drivers, conductors, and technical staff have been temporarily cancelled, announced Ministry of Transport.

The step has been taken by the Ministry to minimize the inconvenience caused to passengers due to the ongoing train strike.

Meanwhile a new SLTB bus schedule will be introduced by the Ministry.

Also, the National Transport Commission (NTC) has agreed to provide opportunity for private buses to run without route permits.

Engine drivers and railway guards launched a strike yesterday evening (11) based on several demands.

140 trains have been halted this morning due to the strike, according to the Railway Control Room.

However the railway trade unions announced that the strike will be continued as the discussions held with the Transport Minister today (12) had been a failure.
