One lane on Olcott Mawatha,Pettah has been blocked due to an anti SAITM protest.

Anti SAITM Students’ Movement is presently engaged in a peaceful protest demanding the release of student activists who were arrested for breaching court orders.

Convener of the Inter-University Student’s Federation (IUSF) Lahiru Weerasekara and Convener of the Inter-University Bhikku Federation (IUBF) Ven. Tempitiye Sugathananda Thero,Medical Faculty Students’ Action Committee Convener Ryan Jayalath were arrested and remanded on charges of causing damages to public property by forcibly entering the premises of the Ministry of Health during an anti-SAITM protest on March 22.
