The Cabinet sub-committee appointed to look into the fuel shortage that ensued will submit their report on the issue today (14), Minister Sarath Amunugama said.
A Cabinet Sub-Committee was appointed on November 7, to look into the current fuel shortage issue and recommend solutions.
The sub-committee was appointed by President Maithripala Sirisena following a request made by the Petroleum Resources Development Minister Arjuna Ranatunga at the cabinet meeting on November 7.
The three-member committee is chaired by Special Assignments Minister Dr Sarath Amunugama and also includes Minister of Megapolis and Western Development Patali Champika Ranawaka and Disaster Management Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa.
The fuel shortage has seen long queues form at fuel stations and forced many commuters to leave their cars at home.
The crisis came weeks after authorities turned away a shipment of about 40,000 tonnes of gasoline saying it was contaminated.
