Govt will enhance the longevity of Buddhism – President

President Maithripala Sirisena stated that the government will take necessary steps to ensure the longevity and growth of the Buddhist community within Sri Lanka. 

President Sirisena stated that the famed piety and morality of Sri Lankan citizens is the result of Buddhism and its deep rooted teachings in Sri Lankan culture. Sri Lankans are comparatively more pious than global the global populace the President said. 

The President expressed these sentiments while addressing a gathering in Mawanella earlier today (17).
