Reports confirm that AW Energy, a Finland based ocean wave energy harvesting company will collaborate with the Sri Lankan government to establish an ocean wave energy harnessing plant across the southern coast of the island nation.

‘Wave power’ remains the largest untapped source of renewable energy yet to be fully harnessed by many global nations. CEO of AW Energy John Liljelund stated that 10% of the global energy requirements may be fulfilled by wave energy plants in the near future.

Discussions will be held to finalize an implementation process for the project.
