JVP warns SLFP over election postpone

November 20, 2017   04:58 pm

Efforts are being made to postpone Local Government Polls due to the crisis that had arisen within Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), alleged General Secretary of JVP Tilvin Silva.

“It has been revealed that five out of six persons who filed a petition seeking the postponing of LG polls are all members of SLFP. It clearly shows political need they have to postpone the election” he alleged while addressing a media brifing hels at Colombo today (20).

Speaking further, he said that although all parties requested the court not to postpone the election SLFP is the only party which refrained from doing so, which again confirms their fear about the LG polls.

Although the SLFP has expressed its unwillingness to contest at the forthcoming elections, JVP will take all measures to ensure that LG polls are held as previously planned, he added.
